I’ve been a fan of the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show for many years, and I listen to it every day on my way to work. One of my favorite segments is when Caroline Kraddick shares her current Obsessions; music, TV shows, products, food, you name it. So, I’m stealing the idea because what better way to incorporate a little lifestyle here on this beauty blog of mine?!
We’re kicking things off with a bang because it’s Friday, it’s Fall, and it’s my first Favorites post!
Fall: it’s my favorite time of year by far. Sweaters and boots, vampy lips, cool(er) weather, pumpkin everything, Halloween, a packed calendar (Friday night lights and hockey games and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, oh my!) – the list goes on and on. So, here are my current fall obsessions, because – like so many others – my fall freak flag is flying!
(Funny story about this photo: Taylor and I went to the mall over the weekend, and they had a pretty elaborate fall vignette set up outside of Crate & Barrell – because of course they did. Taylor says “Oh! Go pose so I can take your picture because pumpkins are your favorite!” So, I look at him all heart-emoji eyed and make myself right at home among the hay and gourds. The athleisure I’m wearing and the PSL I’m drinking aren’t staged; they’re part of my real life and what most of my weekends look like. I’m not mad about it. Also, how cute is he? Thanks, Babe!)
Almond milk latte with 2 pumps of pumpkin
Speaking of pumpkin spice lattes, I’m a sucker for them. But they don’t love me back, especially in my waistline area.
When made the Starbucks way, PSLs (even without the whipped cream) are pretty high in sugar, which I try to cut out where I can. So, I’ve been ordering a better alternative: an almond milk latte with two pumps of pumpkin spice. It cuts way down on the added sugar, but it’s still sweet enough that I don’t need to add anything to it.
I order mine with no whipped cream and no cinnamon, but what’s under your lid is completely up to you!
Two-ingredient pumpkin cake with apple cider glaze
Again with the pumpkin!
I like to bake, but I don’t do it often – except during the fall, then it’s on like Donkey Kong. This cake is the easiest to make; it’s basically fool proof and super quick! No eggs, no oil, no butter, and less fat. It’s far from healthy, but it’s a better option -unless you eat all of it in one sitting like Taylor and I may or may not have. Just kidding; it stayed yummy for about a week in the fridge.
I prefer mine room temperature, but you can eat it warm or cold, too. You’re welcome!
The State Fair
Here in Texas, the State Fair is a BIG deal, and I’m lucky enough to be in Dallas where all of the action happens. I grew up going to the fair, and my office actually took a field trip on a random Tuesday this year, which was great because the fair grounds were empty on a weekday.
Riding rides, eating everything fried (Fried Reese’s? Not worth it. Fried Oreos on the other hand…), seeing the car show and the butter sculpture, walking around, petting the animals, taking a photo with Big Tex – so fun!
I got to experience my first Texas-OU weekend this year – kind of. My dad got invited to a private brunch reception before the game and let me and Taylor tag along before Taylor went to the game with his family and I went to the fair (my second time this year) with my dad and stepmom. Yep, I’m sporting burnt orange (the things we do for love, am I right?).
This one seems a little out of character, right? Truth is, I’ve been a hockey fan for a long time. Not in the I-keep-up-with-it-and-watch-it-all-season-long kind of way, but definitely in the I’d-rather-go-to-a-hockey-game-than-any-other-pro-sports-game kind of way. I’d been to several hockey games before meeting Taylor, but that number has easily doubled since we’ve been together because he’s a season ticket holder. He splurged for opening night tickets this year, which was so fun and definitely a new experience for me. I love our little ritual of riding the Dart to the AAC, checking out the new apparel, and eating chicken fingers after first period when we go to games together. I’m actually starting to understand more of the technical aspects of the game and know who they players are, too! And I love when they fight.
This photo is one of my favorite pictures of us, and how cute is my official Stars shirt?! Target for the win!
Because I’m a great girlfriend, I sometimes give him a hard time about watching the games when I’m over at his place (I mean, there are a lot of hockey games in a season), but I secretly love it, and it’s fun to see him doing something he loves. But don’t tell him I said that.
Bath and Body Works fall scents
If you know me at all, you know that I’m obsessed with candles. Like, I have a cabinet full of candles for all moods and seasons ready to go at any time, and I’m usually burning one if I’m at home. Bath and Body Works’ 3-wick candles are my favorites, especially the fall and winter ones! They have a long burn time and they are strong enough that I only need 1 to permeate my entire apartment. Plus, B&BW products go on sale pretty much every other day and they offer coupons all the time, so I never pay full price (and you shouldn’t either)!
I did a winter stock up last year so I’m ready to go come December, but I realized I didn’t have any fall scents on hand, so I picked up the following candles, car scentportable (to go in my super-cute rhinestone holder), hand soaps, and wax melts (to use with my Scentsy warmer at work):
- flannel 3-wick candle
- autumn 3-wick candle
- sweater weather 3-wick candle
- leaves 3-wick candle
- toasted vanilla chai gentle foaming hand soap
- crisp morning air gentle foaming hand soap
- sweet cinnamon pumpkin scentportable refill
- pumpkin apple fragrance melt
- flannel fragrance melt
- sweater weather fragrance melt
What are your fall favorites? Food, beauty, fashion, events? I’d love to know!
